From Karthik Venkateswaran to his daughter
Kavya
Narration by Komacha (Santhanam, Grand Father)
As every other
parents love their children, Karthik is no exception. Karthik, our beloved
Son-in-Law uses a variety of creative ways of keeping both Kashyap (son -7+
years) and the little Kavya (daughter- 3+ years) to change their moods and
bring humour among them.
Telling stories
of his own imagination is one of his techniques he is good at in bringing cheer on their faces. Here, I am sharing one
such story fabricated and narrated by him to make Kavya who was looking dull as
her mother (Vasudha) was not seen around after she woke up. On a Saturday, she
had accompanied Kashyap for his Football match held a little away from their
home. Karthik was doing baby-sitting
that day. In Bangalore traffic which is notorious mainly due to construction
work such as creating a new fly over or under sub-way or relaying of roads etc.,
to go and return from the nearest neighbourhood would mean three hours. Karthik
knows he has to manage her for such a long time.
Rhydham is a
school friend of Kavya. He has a tendency to tease and hurt his class mates.
May be a pretty naughty boy without having any intention to hurt. Kavya was
also his victim on a couple of occasions.
Using one
such incident happened between Kavya and Rhydham, Karthik tried to fabricate
his own story and cheer up Kavya that
day as she was demanding her mother to come and give her milk.
The story went
somewhat like this.
Karthik asks
Kavya about the type of tantrums Rhydham used to do on her. She answered saying
that Rhydham used to tease her and even hit her at times.
So, Karthik
told her to learn Karate by gesticulating some actions used in Karate. She sat
up and listened to the narration of her father and she became a bit quieter.
Still, she was reminding her father as to when her mother would come back home.
Ignoring her
plea, Karthik continued his fabricated story. He told Kavya, if you learn Karate then if Rhydham hits her,
she can use Karate technique and hit him back. Smile lit on her face. So, in an
imaginary way, Karthik took her to a Karate Master and trained her in Karate.
Another day,
when Rhydham tried to taunt her in his usual way, she used karate technique and
hit him harder and injured his nose. In the evening, after returning home,
Kavya explained her action on Rhydham to her father. When Karthik was told so,
Kavya threw a beaming smile.
Slowly, he
was trying to move her away from her thought of demanding her mother.
Next day, on
hearing from his son Rhydham, it appears his father demanded a meeting with
Kavya’s father Karthik to sort out the problems between Kavya and Rhydham. Kavya
warned her father that Rhydham’s father was a wrestler(Pahalwan) with huge muscles in his
hands and legs and he will harm you too.
Karthik too agreed
to meet Rhydham’s father and so both of
them met in a nearby Park. Rhydham’s father was seen obviously disturbed about the
bashing his son got from Kavya and looked like punching a hook on Karthik’s
face. On seeing him, Karthik told in his own humorous way that both were heavy weight
and have muscles except in wrong places. He said that while Rhydham’s father as
a renowned wrestler had his muscles in his hands and legs, he (Karthik) was
having it in his belly area of his body gently caressing his ever growing stomach. So, he challenged him
for a dance competition instead of wrestling. Rhydham’s father could not control his smile
and laughed heartily. That way they met with different strategies and became
closer. Karthik Sir, you have won. I am happy that Kavya is a friend of Rhydham
and he will not misbehave with her in future.
When Karthik
tried to imitate the dance he would have done in front of Rhydham’s father and told her that the moral of the story was that she should her brain more effectively when in crisis and win over against anyone or any situation. Kavya laughed innocently and hug her father forgetting all about her dull mood in the
beginning and just slept off on the lap of her father.
As heard and narrated by
Komacha (Santhanam). I enjoyed the narration and hope you too would enjoy.
